Rough and fine grading for Hunterdon sites

Grading is how a site sheds water and how a building sits. TM Contracting cuts rough grades for sites and tighter grades for pads, yards, and drives.

Rough grade and fine grade

Rough grading moves the mass of dirt. Fill comes in, cuts go out, and the site starts to match the drainage and the building. Fine grading is the tighter pass: a pad level enough for a foundation or a slab, a yard that does not pitch toward a house, a drive that is shaped before stone or asphalt.

The company has always taken both. Rough and fine grading on commercial pads, large home sites, and farm yards are part of the work, including grading a property while a new house is going up and fine grading a building pad. The dozer, excavators, and track loaders are what make that practical on mixed soil, where a layer of topsoil can hide shale, rock, and wet pockets. A tiny standalone grading call that is not part of a real site package is not the target.

Grading that matches the rest of the site

Grade without drainage is a temporary shape. Swales, culverts, and the way the drive meets the road are decided while the dirt is moving. On commercial sites that means following the engineer’s contours. On a house or a farm it often means reading the slope so water ends up in a ditch instead of a basement or a barn stall.

If you need material to make the grade, fill, topsoil, and stone can be delivered. If you have surplus, the trucks haul it out. Both are listed on the materials page, and both can be part of a grading quote instead of a separate errand.
